Bihar Government Increases Minimum Wages for Workers : The Bihar government has announced a hike in minimum wages for all categories of workers. As per the new rates, unskilled workers will receive ₹428 per day, semi-skilled workers ₹444 per day, skilled workers ₹541 per day, and highly skilled workers ₹660 per day.

The Labour Resources Department issued a notification on Wednesday, confirming that the new wage rates will come into effect from October 1, 2025.

Increment in Wage Rates

According to the notification, the revised wages include an increase of ₹4, ₹5, and ₹6 in the existing daily rates for different worker categories. The department clarified that this increment has been provided in the form of dearness allowance.

It is worth noting that the last revision in minimum wages was carried out in April 2025.

Employment Opportunities in Food Processing Sector

Meanwhile, Labour Resources Department Secretary Deepak Anand, while inaugurating the Bihar Food Sector Industry Meet in Patna on Wednesday, stated that trained youth in the state will get employment opportunities in the food processing sector. He highlighted that skill-based quality training will help Bihar emerge as a strong hub for the food industry.

He further added that this initiative will play a crucial role in the state government’s target of creating one crore jobs.

MoU with Industry Representatives

On this occasion, Mission Director Manish Shankar signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Subodh, a representative of Mumbai Dabbawala, and Sachin, a representative of Sattuz. The collaboration aims to boost skill training and job creation in the food processing sector.

Focus on Skill Development

Labour Commissioner and Additional CEO of Bihar Skill Development Mission Rajesh Bharti emphasized that specialized training is essential for strengthening both skill development and the food processing industry in the state. He said that this would open up new avenues of employment and training opportunities for the youth.

Participation of Industry Experts

The event was also addressed by Prof. Rana Singh, Director of Chandragupt Institute of Management, Amit Kumar, representative of the Ministry of Defence, and Mission Director Manish Shankar.
